The following works, Florilegium Contemporarium, is an excerpt from a series of photographs by artist Linda-Marlena Bucholtz Ross. As a personal anthology of fragmented flowers, Linda-Marlena stages these images as elegant specimens in temporal space. In creating these images, a ritual, and a process of nourishment connects the photographer with the complexity of beauty, flowers and momento mori meditations that usher healing and balance.
Linda-Marlena Bucholtz Ross is a visual artist/photographer living in Montreal. She has exhibited at the Gardiner Museum (Toronto), The Propeller Gallery (Toronto), in conjunction with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Recent solo exhibitions include works at The Research Institute Atrium of the McGill University Health Centre, La Maison de l’architecture du Québec et La Maison du développement durable (Montreal), and La Galerie McClure (Montreal). Her work was selected for the International Exhibition of Contemporary Islamic Art, 2016, at the Irving Art Center in Irvine, Texas. She is a recipient of the research and creation award, given by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, CALQ, (2011-12); winner of The Conrete Contemporary Prize for Photography, (2011) awarded by the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, Ontario; Women in Photography International 2008. www.Linda-Marlena.com
